Shin-Etsu KE-4897T-100 One-Component RTV Silicone Rubber Sealant

Shin-Etsu KE-4897T-100 is a one-component room-temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber developed by Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. It is mainly designed for adhesion and sealing applications in electrical, electronic and general industrial fields. The product is a silicone mixture system containing alkoxysilanes, organosilicon compounds and organic tin catalyst components. It cures by reacting with moisture in the air to form an elastic silicone rubber. The SDS lists alkoxysilane A (10–20%), alkoxysilane B (0.3–1%), alkoxysilane C (0.3–1%), organosilane (0.3–1%) and organic tin fatty acid salt (0.1–0.3%). KE-4897T-100 is a milky white translucent paste with alcohol odor. Its density is approximately 1.04 at 25°C, viscosity approximately 100 Pa·s at 23°C, and it is insoluble in water. During curing, the product reacts with moisture and generates methanol as a by-product; therefore, sufficient ventilation is required during application.
