Fomblin® Y LVAC 16/6 PFPE Vacuum Pump Fluid | Chemically Inert, Non-Flammable Vacuum Lubricant
Fomblin® Y LVAC 16/6 is a perfluoropolyether (PFPE) vacuum lubricant in Syensqo’s Fomblin® Y LVAC family. Fomblin® Y PFPE fluids consist of fully fluorinated polyether structures containing carbon, fluorine and oxygen, providing low vapor pressure, chemical inertness, high thermal stability and good lubricating properties. The Y LVAC family was specifically developed for vacuum-pump service. A controlled viscosity and relatively narrow molecular-weight distribution provide extremely low vapor pressure, helping minimize fluid evaporation and backstreaming in vacuum environments. Syensqo identifies Y LVAC fluids for sealing and lubricating service in vacuum pumps, particularly in systems exposed to aggressive gases. Y LVAC 16/6 has a typical average molecular weight of approximately 2,700 amu, density of 1.89 g/cm³ at 20°C, kinematic viscosity of 168 cSt at 20°C, and vapor pressure of approximately 9×10⁻⁸ Torr at 25°C. Fomblin® PFPE fluids also have no flash or fire point and provide good compatibility with many metals, plastics and elastomers.
